During the 1950s, the radio homemaker and local homemakers clubs extended the hands of friendship and hospitality to the isolated farm wife.

With these wellsprings of homemaking inspiration, farm women became better educated in their homemaking skills, furthering their roles as community leaders.

Join us as the author of "A Culinary History of Iowa," Darcy Maulsby, Lake City, IA, takes us on a walk down memory lane noting the beautiful opportunities a farm wife had to expand her horizons both inside and outside the home during the 1950s.
