If your menu includes Pigs In The Blanket, Fleischkuechla, Watermelon Pickles, Chislic, and Sauerkraut--lots of sauerkraut, your German ancestors more than likely emigrated from Russia into the USA.

Lend your ears as Allyn Brosz, Washington, DC, serves as tour guide through the marvelous in depth history of Germans from Russia (GFR) and their continued influence in our country today.

Allyn's GFR heritage connects as a 4th cousin to North Dakota's The Pfeiffer Sisters through our grandma, Justina Brost Pfeiffer. Note that our ancestral GFR tree trunk solidly still stands, but its branches have gently swayed to different winds of time. Even though "Brosz" and "Brost" are spelled diversely (which so often happened with immigrants), the roots of that GFR connection have grown deeply into the hourglass of time. Perhaps, your GFR ancestry includes that of Jackie and Janine, too!
