Guest Michelle Andersen, Feb. 5, 2024 (#126)

Michelle Andersen, Library Director, Atlantic, IA Carnegie Library, takes North Dakota's The Pfeiffer Sisters on a whirlwind tour of the development of the Carnegie Library beginning in the early 1900s in Atlantic.

Michelle briefly speaks about the magnificent history of what might have been considered the original Bookmobile--the Pack Horse Librarians--women who daringly delivered books on horseback to folks in remote areas of the Appalachian Mountains.

Library books in the 1950s, the card catalogue, acquiring a library card, services offered by libraries are all compared from the 1950s to what we now access on our journey to higher education through the free public library.
