When playing with childhood friends, Mary Gregoire notes, "We would often jump across this imaginary line into another country."

Did you play, "Jump the Boundary," too?

Mary's farm home at Portal, ND was a few hops, skips, and jumps south of the Canadian boundary.

Mary, now of Ames, IA, recalls those 1950s' days when the mail-order catalogue was the "shopping mall." Most all of her family's clothing came from those early "online" shopping outlets. But, folks, buying shoes was another exciting story! Perhaps, Mary childhood "scenes" are similar to yours.

Winter blizzards, the sport of Curling, and stories of her farm home's coal furnace help complete Mary's heartfelt story.
