"What worked for the family, worked for the community," notes Clarinda, IA, native, Elaine Otte, as she chats with North Dakota's The Pfeiffer Sisters about small-town life in the 1950s.

From home milk delivery to city-wide sleigh riding over the snowdrifts of Main Street, to "we-kids-learned-to-solve-our-own-day-to-day problems," Elaine fondly recalls memories of her childhood.

Many Atlantic, Iowans will recognize this accomplished Baby Boomer for in retirement from her accomplished profession in dietetics and hospital administration, she now holds a chair in city government on the Atlantic City Council.
